When Matchmaking Become Monstrous
A Comedy by

Approximate Playing time: 90 Minutes

It’s the late 19th century and the marriage-minded Mrs. Bennet is determined to find a pair of eligible (translated: wealthy) husbands for her eldest daughters, Jane and Elizabeth. Without doubt, Charles Bingley and Fitzwilliam Darcy fit the fussy matron’s definition of a suitable son-in-law. Both gentlemen, it seems, are also on the active radar screen of the local matchmaker, Harriet Peppercorn, who prides herself on a high success rate in London society. While Charles’ man-hungry sister, Caroline, is eager to take advantage of Elizabeth’s total disinterest in the dashing Darcy, Jane’s friend Emma Carew is romantically fixated on her sightings of a handsome young doctor named Henry Jekyll. Missed connections, misunderstandings and comedic mishaps ensue against the backdrop of a tranquil city suddenly disrupted by the presence of an unkempt mad man bent on mayhem. $20 Single Use Copyright Fee plus $60 Royalty per Performance for Amateur Theatre.
