Ray appears content seated in his rocking chair in his room at the nursing home. Tensions mount when his successful and busy son, Walt, stops by for a short visit. Ray insists that Walt just missed seeing his mother, Irene, who stops by often to bring Ray his favorite cookies. Walt insists that Irene is dead. Ray sets out to prove otherwise. And possibly he’s right, that he can communicate with Irene through his mind and that she comes whenever he wants to see her. Maybe next time Walt visits they can all three spend time together. When Walt leaves, Irene arrives with cookies. Ray tells her she just missed seeing Walt. Playwright Frier blurs the line between what is real and what isn’t as Irene reminds Ray that Walt is dead.
