Ross Peter Nelson earned his MFA in Playwriting from the University of New Orleans. He is the author of several plays and short stories, as well as two books on computer technology. His plays have been performed in locations as diverse as Santa Monica, Singapore, and Sydney, Australia. His most recent full-length productions are the eco-fantasy "Colter's Hell," and "Becoming Number Six," a dark comedy about internet surveillance.

For many years he was a company member and writer for Playground San Francisco, which honored him with their Emerging Playwright Award in 2006. He has also collaborated frequently with the Pear Theatre in Mountain View and Southern Repertory Theatre in New Orleans, which commissioned his one-act, "Zoloft Tango."

He has been a finalist for the Heideman Award and his fiction has won prizes in California and Louisiana. Ross recently received a scholarship to the Can Serrat colony in Spain, where he will serve as playwright-in-residence in October 2017. Ross is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
